Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies provides free hands-on classes for parents and their support partners through our education and training program. Classes are taught by trained and/or certified team members, as well as community partners throughout Palm Beach County.
All classes and groups are offered at no cost to Palm Beach County residents. Registration is required.

In Person Safe Baby Class
Each year, more than 3,600 babies in the United States die unexpectedly. This is from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) or accidental deaths from suffocation or strangulation. Many of these deaths are preventable.
While this is scary for new parents, infant safety education is an important step to reducing risks for your baby and giving them the best care possible.
Join this class to learn the basics of baby safety including safe sleep, preventing shaken baby syndrome, caregiver safety, and more.

Led by Community Partners of South Florida, Safe Kids Palm Beach County is a community-based program that offers safety education and materials to families to decrease preventable injuries in children from 0 to 19. They provide educational materials for the following injury areas, including drowning prevention, home safety, pedestrian safety, bicycle , safety and child passenger safety.

Mothers & Babies is six-session group for pregnant women and new parents to help manage stress and prevent postpartum depression. These groups cover a variety of topics that help perinatal women cope with stress and/or depressive symptoms.

In Person Infant CPR & Safety
Accidents happen and preparing for the unexpected can help. Learning infant CPR can prepare individuals to give their child the best chance of recovering from an emergency including choking, drowning, or breathing problems. This class is for expectant couples, parents, and community members who are or will become caregivers of infants and children.
*Each participant must fill out an individual registration form.

Jason Valentine is a Captain-firefighter/paramedic for the City of Coral Springs Fire Department with over 15 years of experience. He is also a CPR instructor and has taught infant CPR classes with HMHB for four years. Jason states there's no greater satisfaction than teaching new parents these critical lifesaving skills.

Mom's Care After Birth
The Fourth Trimester: Taking care of yourself after giving birth
The fourth trimester is the 12 weeks following the birth of your baby. Not everyone has heard of it, but every parent and their newborn baby will experience it. Postpartum care is an extension of your prenatal care and it is crucial for you and your baby’s health. In this class you will learn what to expect after birth - the physical recovery and emotional changes, how to plan ahead for your self-care and for support, to be aware of potential postpartum complications, newborn development, adjusting to your new life and returning to work.

Illian Casiano is a registered nurse with 22 years of experience in Labor and Delivery and a Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She is also a highly experienced and dynamic childbirth educator and facilitator of postpartum mom groups. Her areas of expertise include: childbirth, breastfeeding, parent-infant bonding, infant development, postpartum care, self-care and postpartum mood disorders. A Trauma-Informed Approach for Healthcare Professionals

Cuidando al Recién Nacido
Cuidar a un bebé requiere habilidad, práctica y enseñanza. Está bien no saber cómo cambiarle un pañal o darle su primer baño a un bebé; ¡Podemos enseñarte! In Person Childbirth Class
Knowing what to expect during childbirth can help reduce stress about the experience. Join us to prepare for the arrival of your baby by discussing topics such as the stages of labor and delivery, labor support techniques, breathing and relaxation strategies, pain management, and C-sections. Pregnant women typically attend these classes in their third trimester. Support partners are encouraged to join!
It is recommended to bring the following items as we will be moving to the ground for interactive practice of comfort techniques during labor:
Two (2) pillows for each participant

In Person Caring for Newborn Class
Caring for a baby takes practice and patience. It's okay to not know how to change a diaper or give a baby their first bath. We can teach you! This class covers the basics of caring for a newborn including diapering, feeding, and caring for your baby’s delicate body. Anyone caring for the baby, including partners, grandparents, and older siblings, are welcome to learn together!

Perinatal Mental Health in the Fourth Trimester
This training covers the emotional and psychological challenges that perinatal families face during the first 12 weeks postpartum - often called the fourth trimester.
Unique to any other time in their lives, new parents encounter drastic changes in their daily activities and shifts in their relationships with family and friends. With these adjustments, some parents are quickly faced with mental health challenges that accompany this new stage of life and need support to cope.
The training includes strategies and ideas for offering comprehensive support for maternal mental health during the fourth trimester.

These sessions are a safe place for moms to talk and learn together. You will learn how your baby grows during the first year and how you may feel as a mom. Whether you’re a first-time mom or adding to your family, you can learn helpful tips and meet other moms like you. Share is a resource for grieving families who have suffered pregnancy loss or the loss of a child in the first few months of life. We provide a safe and supportive community where experiences, thoughts, and feelings can be freely expressed.

In Person Childbirth Class
Knowing what to expect during childbirth can help reduce stress about the experience. Join us to prepare for the arrival of your baby by discussing topics such as the stages of labor and delivery, labor support techniques, breathing and relaxation strategies, pain management, and C-sections. Pregnant women typically attend these classes in their third trimester. Support partners are encouraged to join!
It is recommended to bring the following items as we will be moving to the ground for interactive practice of comfort techniques during labor:
Two (2) pillows for each participant
One (1) blanket, comforter, or yoga mat

Clase de Lactancia
Es importante comprender la lactancia materna antes del nacimiento de su bebé. Una clase de lactancia materna puede ayudarla a comprender mejor cómo funciona la lactancia materna y responder preguntas como cómo establecer un suministro saludable de leche materna, cómo ayudar al bebé a prenderse, etc. El instructor cubrirá eso y más. Enseñaremos los beneficios de la lactancia materna para la mamá y el bebé, las posiciones para amamantar, el uso de un extractor de leche, cuándo cambiar a sólidos y el almacenamiento seguro de la leche. Reanimación Cardiopulmonar de Bebés (RCP Bebés)
En esta clase aprenderá ha como hacer RCP para bebés. El RCP es una forma de ayudar a un bebé que no está respirando o cuyo corazón ha dejado de latir. Se hacen suaves presiones en el pecho y respiraciones de ayuda para mantener al bebé con vida hasta que llegue ayuda médica.
