Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies is proud to celebrate another year of success at our core mission: reaching out to at-risk pregnant teens and women throughout Palm Beach County, and providing them with access to the quality prenatal care and support they need for a healthy birth outcome.
Yes, for us, success is measured in new little lives begun better – with less risk of preventable adverse birth circumstances that create hardship for the newborns and their families, along with a substantial financial burden on our healthcare and social service systems.
Yet the challenge persists. Recent data confirmed that almost 14% of Florida’s babies are born without fully developed lungs, brains or other organs. Nationwide, more than half a million babies are born prematurely each year... costing us some $26 billion. So, clearly the stakes are high ... and the need remains urgent.
The facts are undeniable: Stronger, healthier babies make healthier families…and lead directly to lower long term health costs as better-cared-for pregnant mothers and their newborns become contributing members of our community. It’s a social dividend that lasts a lifetime. Can you think of any other investment offering returns so meaningful?
Through the ‘Healthy Beginnings Program’ of Children’s Services Council (CSC), Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies is an essential gateway to identifying and assisting those who lack the means or experience to ‘navigate the system’ to obtain the prenatal services they need. Our programs are life-saving and free.
Our goal is to raise $500,000 to help prevent premature births in Palm Beach County by keeping our programs available. Only with your help:
• We can reach and educate more than 10,000 middle and high school teens on the consequences of pregnancy through our Health Educator Program within the Palm Beach County School System.
• We can give more than 1200 at-risk mothers access to prenatal care via our Mobile Outreach Van, placed directly
in our communities with little or no access to transportation.
• We can provide access to care services to over 800 disadvantaged families who would otherwise be forgotten.
• We can help more than 3,000 inexperienced mothers and fathers-to-be avoid devastating birth problems that result from insufficient access to prenatal medical care.
• And we can supply our pantries with diapers, formula and even food for hundreds of families who have nothing.
We hope you’ll decide to be our partner as we devote ourselves to the wellbeing of every new baby who begins his or her life’s journey here in Palm Beach County.
Thank you for your generosity. Please send your gift today!
Warm Regards,
Cathy Cohn, President/CEO
