Healthy Mothers/Healthy Babies of Palm Beach County is proud to announce that they have been certified for sound nonprofit management by the Center for Nonprofit Excellence.

According to Pedro del Sol, President and CEO of The Center, “The primary goal of agency certification is to strengthen the administrative capacity of nonprofit agencies in Palm Beach County and to promote best practices in nonprofit management.

” The Center for Nonprofit Excellence was established by a coalition of public and private funders in Palm Beach County. Working with experts in the field, they created a uniform set of standards for governance and administration, financial management, and human resource management and formed The Center to promote the standards.

Cathy Cohn, President and CEO of Healthy Mothers/Healthy babies said, “I want to congratulate our staff that collaborated with the On-Site Review Team of The Center, which is comprised of retired nonprofit agency executives and business community representatives. We were gratified by their response to our own management practices and welcomed their input for further improvement.”

Healthy Mothers/Healthy Babies is the gateway to the county’s maternal child health care system. It is one of the agencies that comprise the Healthy Beginnings System of Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County and provides access to health care, refers people to connect to additional supports, such as home visits by a registered nurse, education for pregnant women and families with newborns, instruction on nutrition during pregnancy, childbirth education, promotion and support of breastfeeding and parenting education. “

To be able to continue to deliver these vital services to the community, our organization is dependent upon support from philanthropic organizations, generous individuals as well as state and local government agencies,” continued Cohn. “This certification announces to them that Healthy Mothers/Healthy Babies has the necessary internal controls in place to manage those funds.”
