Father Support Groups

Support group/parenting and educational programs offered throughout Palm Beach County neighborhood locations. Session topics include parenting, discipline and responsibility.

Conflict Resolution Program

Elementary school administrators refer students who participate in a 9-week conflict resolution/anger management support group. Mediations also can be held on an as needed basis. Topics covered are:

    · Understanding Conflict
    · Effective Communication
    · Understanding Anger
    · Handling Anger
    · Peer Mediation
    · Sportsmanship
    · Community Building

School Presentations

A teen father provides teen pregnancy prevention and male responsibility presentations to students in Palm Beach County middle and high schools. Presentations last one class hour to 90 minutes. Topics included are:

    · Male Responsibility
    · Paternity Testing
    · STD/STI Info

Childbirth Education Classes

Educate men on fatherhood involvement and parenting through their attendance at the various Childbirth classes throughout the county. Topics covered are:

    · Father involvement in infant stages of child development
    · Baby Hygiene
    · Car Seat Safety S.I.D.S (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome)
    · Shaken Baby Syndrome

"Guy Talk"

Consists of a one-hour life skills management training with boys, ages 9-18, at various subsidized housing development sites. Topics covered are:

    · Anger Management
    · Conflict Resolution
    · Peer Pressure

Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Good Students)

When a father partners with his child's school, the school wins, the father wins, but most important his child wins! It has become increasingly clear that to strengthen America's schools and children, fathers have an indispensable role.

Father of the Year

Every year Responsible Fatherhood Initiative looks for the "The Father of the Year". The ideal candidate is someone who has gone beyond the call of duty in his role as a father.
